An innocent breeze in the clarinets rippling the water, a whirlwind in the strings with leaves swirling nervously in the woodwinds, or a sudden gust of wind through the entire orchestra: they are all aspects of the same storm that you can hear blowing through this composition.

For me the inspiration for Tempest, as with some of my other works, lay in the course and influence of a natural process. Like the daily cycle of the sun and its palpable warmth, the invisible power and elusive movements of the wind intrigue me. That is why I have tried to give musical shape to this phenomenon, which affects all of nature.
Just listen to the birds that gently begin to sing in the aftermath of the storm, or feel the icy wind blowing over a barren plain. And hear how, near the end of the composition, finally the sun appears majestically in the sky, when all the clouds have been swept away by an invisible hand and the world becomes warm and quiet again in a harmonious landscape.
